This curriculum was created to encourage the study of Dorothea Lange’s photographs in connection with the PBS American Masters documentary and companion book Dorothea Lange: Grab a Hunk of Lightning. Excerpts of this curriculum have been posted by PBS. Dorothea Lange and Ansel Adams’s incarceration images are accessible from the Library of Congress website and a corresponding image set is posted on The Museum of Contemporary Photography Columbia College Chicago’s (MoCP) website.
Note about terminology: The incarceration of Japanese Americans during WWII has historically been called an internment.
